After running Furness Childcare in Barrow for a year, the Directors (Donna & Steve Duff) were invited to tender for the NNI Nursery in Whitehven. After only a short period of time (and gaining from their experience at their Barrow site) a suitable building was found and tenders sent out to local building contractors to convert it.
In January 2004 the Directors got the news that they had successfully won the bid for the NNI Nursery. Building contractors were appointed and work started on the conversion.
Now the problem, what to call the new Nursery?
Furness Childcare wasn’t really appropriate, so after some thought Donna came up with the name ‘Tamalder’ Childcare after their three children Tamsyn, Alexander and Derian.
The new Nursery opened in November 2004 using the Furness Childcare philosophy of supplying high quality, affordable childcare.
The Nursery is located on Meadow Road next to the Hewden Hire depot.
