Meet the friendly Furness Childcare Staff...

Donna Duff

Managing Director
Registered person and overall responsibility for both sites.

Donna is the driving force behind the two nurseries and as a parent herself strives for very high quality childcare as if it were for her own children (who do regularly attend the Holiday Clubs).

She understands parents and children’s needs and is always willing to go that one step further to help them. Donna has a BSc(Hons) in Health Development and Children & Young People, a NVQ level 3 in Early Years and childcare and has just gained her EYPS, She has attended many other courses including First aid, Special Educational Needs, and Food Hygiene to name but a few.

Her forte is in child protection issues and she has attended many seminars and courses on the subject, she was a volunteer for the NSPCC before she decided to look into starting the Nurseries and has recently raised £700 for the SAFE in Barrow project. Donna is always thinking of new ideas and services for the local Community and often-friendly chats to parents will get her on a mission to help others.

Stephen Duff

Director
Responsible for Company Finances.

Stephen is usually found in the office at either the Barrow or Whitehaven Nurseries with his head in his computer dealing with the Company Finances. Stephen worked in the Shipbuilding industry for 20 years and welcomed the thought of a career change when his wife Donna told him of her idea to open the Barrow Nursery.

As a dad, he empathised with parents who were anxious about leaving their children in the care of someone else and was instrumental behind the installation of the NurseryCam system and Biometric access systems at Both Nurseries. A big fan of new technologies he is keen to keep an eye on new developments in this area.

Stephen is also in charge of Health and Safety at both Nurseries and has attended many courses in his years in the shipbuilding industry, where Health and Safety also play a big part; he has managed to migrate the information and practices he has used before into workable solutions for the Nurseries.
