Meals & Snacks
Furness Childcare offers a healthy eating approach to meals and snacks. At lunch time, children will be offered a nourishing two course balanced meal.
Weekly menus will be displayed on the parent’s notice board but, if your child doesn’t like something on the menu, you can ask a member of staff for them to have a packed lunch that day which the nursery will provide.
Any Special Dietary Requirements will be met and a similar alternative can be offered.
Babies dinners are served at 11.30 and all other children eat at 12.15. If a child is asleep they will not be woken, but a dinner kept for them to have later.
Snacks are served at 10.00 and 2.00 and commonly consist of fresh fruit, vegetables, toast, bread sticks or crumpets.
Tea is served at 4.15 and children are offered a selection of sandwiches and a pudding.
Drinks
Children will be offered a choice of milk or water at all snack and meal times. Children also have a cup in their classroom and fresh drinking water of which they can help themselves to throughout the day.
Furness Childcare currently has a no juice policy to promote healthy teeth.
All Furness Childcare food is freshly prepared on-site every day by FC staff who all have Certificates Food Hygiene. The FC kitchen meets all current environmental health department needs.
