The idea of Furness Childcare Limited came from Donna Duff, one of the directors and a mother of three children. She wanted to provide a childcare facility that catered for parents with varying needs and supplied a very high standard of care. She also felt that it was important to be a nursery that did not require an appointment by parents to visit and that Furness Childcare would always have a high ratio of friendly, qualified staff.
Furness Childcare facility opened in July 2003 following 2 years of hard work and planning by the nursery directors. FC was the first nursery in Cumbria to install the NurseryCAM secure internet viewing system it was also one of the first nurseries in the country to install a biometric (fingerprint) access system. Both these systems enhance our open door policy.
Furness Childcare is registered with OFSTED for 69 children for full day care. With separate classrooms for different ages and an after school and holiday club, Furness Childcare welcomes children form birth to 11.
